AN
ORDINANCE
to amend the Punjab
Institute of Qura’n and Seerat Studies Act 2014.
It is expedient to
amend the Punjab Institute of Quran and
Seerat Studies Act 2014 (XXIX of
2014) for purposes of rationalizing
membership of the Board of Directors and Academic Council of the Institute and
for other purposes;
Provincial Assembly
of the Punjab is not in session and Governor of the Punjab is satisfied that
circumstances exist which render it necessary to take immediate action;
In exercise of the
powers conferred under clause (1) of Article 128 of the Constitution of the
Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Governor of the Punjab is pleased to make and
promulgate the following Ordinance:
1.
Short
title and commencement.– (1) This Ordinance may be cited as the Punjab
Institute of Qura’n and Seerat Studies (Amendment) Ordinance 2015.
(2) It shall
come into force at once.
2.
Amendment
in section 2 of Act XXIX of 2014.– In the Punjab Institute of Qura’n and
Seerat Studies Act 2014 (XXIX of 2014), for brevity cited as the said Act, for
section 2, the following shall be substituted:
“2. Definitions.– In this Act:
(a)
“Academic Council” means Academic Council of the
Institute;
(b)
“Board” means Board of Directors of the Institute;
(c)
“Executive Director” means Executive Director of the
Institute;
(d)
“Government” means Government of the Punjab;
(e)
“Institute” means Punjab Institute of Qura’n and Seerat
Studies established under the Act; and
(f)
“prescribed” means prescribed by rules or regulations
made under the Act.”
3.
Amendment
in section 5 of Act XXIX of 2014.– In the said Act, in section 5:
(a) in
subsection (1):
(i)
for clause (k), the following shall be
substituted:
“(k) President and General Secretary of Members”; Ittehad
Tanzimat-e-Madris-e-Pakistan;
(ii)
after clause (k), the following clause (kk)
shall be inserted:
“(kk) one eminent scholar to be Member”.

by the Government;
(b) for subsection (4), the following shall
be substituted:
“(4) The Government shall
nominate members of the Board, other than ex-officio members, for a term of two
years but the member shall serve during the pleasure of the Government.”
4.
Amendment
in section 12 of Act XXIX of 2014.– In the said Act, in section 12 , in
subsection (2), for clause (d), the following shall be substituted :
“(d) one nominee of Ittehad Tanzimat-e-Madris-e-Pakistan;”
